I'm worried about protein, adding protein, etc

It will NOT add weight if you are doing pure protein. I am a FIRM believer especially in WHEY for weight loss. It not only blunts hunger but protein is necessary to repair and build LEAN MASS...which further raises your resting metabolic rate, which means you burn more calories when at rest!
